Mrs. Martha A. Rutledge, age 74 died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Austin, on South Walnut Street. Her demise was due to a cancer from which she had been a sufferer for yearsw. The deceased was born in Virginia Feb 18, 1824. She came to the county 53 years ago and lived for 26 years at Shannondale and Darlington. For the past 27 years she has made her home in this city. Mrs. Rutledge joined the Presbyterian Church over a half century ago and has lived a devout christian life. Four children survive her: Joseph; William; Mrs. Frank Austin and Mrs. Robert Davis. The funeral was conducted at the Austin residence Tuesday afternoon by Rev. H.L. Nave. Interment at Oak Hill. Transcribed by kbz
